A horse died after a pack of horses ran onto the A47 when they broke loose from a field.
One of the animals was hit by a Transit van.
A Cambridgeshire Police spokesman said: 'We were called at about 6.30am on Sunday to the A47 at Elm Hall, Wisbech.
'One horse had been hit by a vehicle and a further six were on the road.
'Officers moved the horses back into a field. The road was closed for about three hours while this took place and the deceased horse was removed from the road.'
