HMS Dauntless is due to leave Great Yarmouth's outer harbour at 7pm tonight.
The Royal Navy Type 45 air defence destroyer was due to set off at 2pm but has been delayed due to engine problems.
She has been docked at the harbour since Thursday as her crew visited Yarmouth as part of its affiliation to the town.
Since the arrival of the 1.1bn vessel her crew have taken part in a charity football match, hosted visits and paraded through Yarmouth town centre.
After leaving Yarmouth HMS Dauntless will be taking part in sea trials in the English Channel and the North Sea. She is due to become fully operational next month.
