Tributes are being paid to a former headteacher of almost two decades whose commitment is being praised for helping to shape education in Drayton.

Drayton Junior School today announced the sad news of the death of Mrs Pat Howe (nee Botten), who led both schools in Drayton from 1978 well into the 1990s.

In a statement the school said: 'It is with sadness that we report the passing of Mrs Pat Howe, former headteacher of both Drayton schools from 1978 - mid 1990s.

'Her dedication to the schools and the children of Drayton helped shape many lives and the community itself.'
