A new farm shop in Henstead has had a good first day of business as about 50 people took the opportunity to buy and peruse a wide range of local produce among it shelves.

The Nourish farm shop has opened its doors at the Henstead Arts and Craft Centre at Henstead, on Wednesday.

Its owner is Jayne Martin, 50, of Southwold, who took the plunge by opening the farm shop as she had no experience of running such a business before.

She set up the shop after realising there was a need for it in the area.

But for the mother of one, who used to work in sales and marketing for the travel industry, embarking on a steep learning curve to open Nourish has seemingly proved a success as about 50 people visited her shop on its first day.

Among the local produce that proved popular were eggs, honey and cakes - and one customer even praised Miss Martin on having the best looking vegetables she had ever seen.

And customers will be in for even more treats as Miss Martin says her shop will become fully stocked with even more local produce in the next few days, including fresh bread, sausage rolls and more diary products.

Miss Martin said: 'It has been fantastic so far. There has been a steady stream of interested people very eager to buy local produce.'

Nourish is open 9am to 5pm between Wednesday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
