Derek Allwood and Professor Ian Harvey have joined Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust as designate non-executive directors. They will help the trust to further develop its services, the way it works with other local health and care providers, and its application to become an NHS Foundation Trust.

Professor Harvey, 56, has worked within the NHS and medical teaching roles for over 30 years and is the dean of the Faculty of Health and Medicine at the University of East Anglia (UEA) and a member of the board at the Norfolk and Suffolk Dementia Alliance.

Mr Allwood, 64, has significant experience of working within the fields of strategy, finance and risk, having spent his career as both an actuary and an accountant within the financial services industry, including Aviva.

Ken Applegate, chairman of the Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust, said: 'I am delighted to welcome Ian and Derek to the Trust. They each bring a very distinctive skill-set which will be an advantage to the Trust and the Board and help us to further develop our services, which will really benefit local patients.

'This is a very exciting time for the trust as we are striving to become a Foundation Trust. This status would grant us more flexibility to enable us to make further improvements to meet the needs of our patients.'
