The chief executive of a Norfolk health trust is to step down.

Roisin Fallon-Williams, from Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust (NCHC) will leave the organisation within the next few months, it has been announced.

Mrs Fallon-Williams has juggled working away from home with family commitments in Bedford since 2014 and was looking to spend more time at home with her husband and family.

A trust spokesman said Mrs Fallon-Williams's energy, enthusiasm and commitment were evident in all she had undertaken and she left the trust in a strong position.

NCHC chairman, Geraldine Broderick, said: 'From a personal perspective, I will miss Roisin for her huge leadership contribution to our organisation and wider system, but above all I will miss Roisin for simply being her. I'm sure you will all join me in wishing her well in the future and thanking her for her personal and professional commitment to the trust.'

Medical director, Dr Venu Harilal, added: 'For me, Roisin's impact on the trust has represented a huge cultural change – her leadership style has transformed the culture to embrace non-hierarchical values, releasing staff to where they are needed, at the forefront of patient care.'

Mrs Fallon-Williams said: 'I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at NCHC, and the trust will always hold a very special place in my heart. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our staff for making me feel welcome from the start and for embracing the changes we have made together.

'I have loved being part of the NCHC team. I have seen us all work hard to improve quality and we have increased our capability.

'We have focused on innovating and changing how we provide care in order that there are really effective services into the future, despite the considerable and increasing pressures on our staff and resources.

'I would very much like to remain part of the team, but being separated from my family in order to do so is something that I know I cannot do in the longer term. I have therefore sadly made the decision to go now, to spend more time at home, take a break and to reflect on what to do next in my career.'
