The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital said today it was continuing to see 'very high' numbers of patients with norovirus symptoms.
A spokesman said patients were coming into A&E who either had the symptoms or who had been in contact with someone who had.
'This means that the time taken to properly isolate patients, carrying out appropriate clinical cleaning, is slowing down flow through our hospital, including the emergency department,' the spokesman said. 'We are very sorry for any patients experiencing delays.'
A blanket ban on visiting is not currently in place, but people are asked to only visit the hospital if it is absolutely necessary, to go to only one ward at a time, and not to bring in children aged under 12 years.
People are also urged to stay away if they have had a stomach bug or been in close contact with someone who has over the previous three days. It is also essential visitors wash their hands with hot water and soap.
