Norwich lights up for World Down Syndrome Day

Emma Taylor and Zoe Lee, mothers of children with Down Syndrome and creators of the Facebook page Best Buddies and their Adventures, organised the lighting up of both Norwich Castle and Norwich City Hall on the evening of Wednesday, March 21.

The two buildings turned blue and yellow at dusk, and families with children with the syndrome gathered outside the castle with balloons of the same colour.

In previous years the crowd has released the balloons into the sky, however Mrs Taylor said this year it was just a 'balloon wave', in a move to protect the environment and to let children keep them after the event.

Mrs Taylor said she thought there had been an increase in participants on last year, and thanked her friends and family for their support.
