The contract to provide diagnostic services across Norfolk and Waveney has again been awarded to private firm Global Diagnostics.
The organisation was recommissioned for three years to provide a number of radiology services in the region, and recently developed a new IT interface between the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) and GP surgeries.
This means reports from Global Diagnostics can be sent straight to GP surgeries once they are verified by a radiologist or sonographer. Previously, the systems were not as joined up and required more administration time from GPs and their staff.
Max Jennings, country manager for Global Diagnostics and lead at The Global Clinic, Norwich said: 'This news is warmly welcomed as it offers a more efficient service for Norfolk and Waveney GPs and their patients. Our thanks go to colleagues within NNUH who have facilitated our requests and worked closely with our IT staff. This is a tremendous achievement.'
