A health watchdog has sent inspectors to a Norfolk hospital.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, at King's Lynn confirmed officials from the Care Quality Commission were making a pre-planned visit.
It comes as the QEH closes a so-called 'escalation ward' opened to help cope with a spike in admissions over the winter.
QEH trust chief executive Jon Green said: 'The CQC are currently delivering their scheduled inspection of The Trust, this is anticipated to conclude in June with a full report being made available afterwards.
'We are also currently in the process of de-escalating Leverington Ward. This escalation ward has been used throughout winter to allow us to manage the spike in inpatient activity experienced. We are now in a position to safely reduce the number of patients on Leverington Ward, which also enables us to ensure we have improved staffing across our other wards and services.'
