A man appeared at court yesterday accused of meeting a teenage girl after grooming her.

John Robert Page, 43, of Sunnyside, in Heacham, appeared at King's Lynn Magistrates' Court yesterday on two charges under the Sexual Offences Act.

He is alleged to have met and communicated with a 14-year-old

girl on at least two occasions between January 1 and April 12 in Hunstanton not reasonably believing she was aged 16 or over and intended to have sex with her.

Page is also accused of intentionally touching a girl aged 14 in a sexual way and not reasonably believing she was aged 16 or over between January 1 and April 12 in King's Lynn.

On arriving at the dock the 43-year-old spoke to confirm his name, address and date of birth before the court clerk read out the charges against him.

Page was then asked if he was going to indicate a plea he told the court he was not entering a plea.

Prosecutor Yvonne Neill urged district judge Philip Browning to send the case to the crown court because it was not suitable for summary trial.

Neil Meachem, for Page, made no representations.

Judge Browning adjourned the case to be committed to the crown court for trial. Page will return to King's Lynn Magistrates' Court in June for a committal hearing.

He was given conditional bail and told not to contact the victim or any member of her family and to live and sleep at his address.
