It might not get you into Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, but the golden ticket in every Community Chest starter pack is still a sweet treat.

Worth 50 tokens, it is helping people across the region get a step closer to transforming their communities.

Non-profit groups have been collecting their starter packs and filling their chests with tokens since Monday - and there are still plenty available in offices throughout Norfolk.

With £15.000 to give away in January - the red tokens printed at the back of every EDP are in high demand.

One token is available on weekdays and readers can cut and collect five on the weekend. An application can only be submitted once a group has 500 tokens in total.

The Eastern Daily Press' Community Chest campaign, in association with the Norfolk Community Foundation, gives non-profit community groups the opportunity to apply for grants between £250 and £2500 every month and there is £100,000 to giveaway throughout 2016.

Youth charity OPEN Norwich, disabilities charity Build and the Acle Land Trust already have their boxes in place and the judges - our dragons - are preparing to choose the beneficiaries.

Paddy Seligman OBE, who has dedicated her life to volunteer work, is one of the five dragons and the others include Nigel Pickover, editor in chief; Graham Tuttle, chief executive of the Norfolk Community Foundation; Archant circulation director Darron McLoughlin; and Julie James, whose husband is the Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Rev Graham James.

EDP editor-in-chief Nigel Pickover said: 'The cash ranges from £250 to £2,500 and we know that even at the low end of these awards it can make so much difference. It's a great opportunity for groups across the region.'

Organisations across Norfolk, north Suffolk and east Cambridgeshire are welcome to apply.
