Harleston Young Farmers have presented Norfolk cancer charity the Big C with a cheque after raising more than £3,000 in an unusual fundraising challenge.

Earlier this year, Harleston Young Farmers set out to complete an ambitious challenge of rowing the length of the River Thames, cycling the distance from Land's End to John O'Groats, and running the distance from Norwich to Paris, all of which would be achieved on fitness machines in their clubhouse.

As if this challenge was not already difficult enough, members decided that the entire challenge would be completed within 72 hours.

The Harleston Young Farmers completed all three distances within 66 hours.

A spokesman for the club said: 'Harleston Young Farmers would like to thank everyone who donated to this worthy cause as the Big C continues to support people affected by cancer in Norfolk and Waveney.

'The total amount raised through the fundraiser was in excess of £3,250, an impressive amount for a relatively small club.

'We would also like to thank everyone who helped organise the fundraiser.'
