Artisan food producers are celebrating after scooping a hat-trick of awards for their tasty preserves.

Mary Ann Stuart and her partner Kim Holt, who set up Ollands Farm Foods in Happisburgh two years ago, won a silver and two bronze awards at the World's Original Marmalade Awards.

They picked up the top gong for their Seville orange marmalade with whisky and the other two for their lemon and lime and Seville orange batches, all in the Artisan Awards category.

Ms Stuart, 59, a former headteacher, said: 'I'm really thrilled. To get a silver is fantastic and amazing. It was quite a tough category because they had entries from around the world.

'It was stiff competition and it was a real honour to get to that level of recognition.'

Last year the couple won two bronze awards at the same competition, which is in its 10th year.

'It is great to be able to put Norfolk on the map. We try to source our ingredients locally. It's really important to shout about the quality of food that Norfolk is able to offer,' Ms Stuart added.

As well as marmalade the business, based in the garage of the couple's home, makes jams, pickled eggs, sweet and savoury jellies, chutney, pickles and salad dressing.

'We try to have a good range of products to satisfy tastes for breakfast, lunch and dinner,' Ms Stuart said.

But despite the increasing array products, marmalade remains her favourite.

It is made the traditional way in an open pan over two days.

Everything is done in the Happisburgh garage, from label making to hand cutting the fruit.

Ollands Farm Foods products are sold at farmers' markets across Norfolk, independent shops and bought by hotels and garden centres.

Ms Stuart added: 'There is a growing market for artisan food. There are an increasing number of young families looking for good quality food.'

The business owner said it was likely Ollands Farm Foods would expand but production would remain traditional and in-house.

When the business started between 20 and 30 jars of preserves were being produced every two weeks but now more than 1,000 a month are being made.
