A man holding what is thought to have been a handgun went into a Lowestoft shop last night and demanded money.

The man entered the off-licence on Lawson Road, in the Kirkley area, at around 9pm and threw a black bag at a female shop worker demanding money.

A police spokesman said: 'The worker twice told the man there was no money at the premises. He then became agitated and pushed a scratchcard stand off the counter before running out of the shop and down Lawson Road towards Clifton Road.'

The man is described as having piercing blue eyes and wearing a dark grey jacket with its hood up, a full-face balaclava, black gloves, black jogging bottoms and white trainers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Denise Davey at Lowestoft CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
