A museum is encouraging amateur photographers to send in their pictures that capture the beauty and quirky nature of Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
The Only in the East photography competition is being run as part of an eye-catching nostalgic picture exhibition at the Time and Tide Museum in Great Yarmouth.
Its current exhibition, called Only in England, features the work of two of Britain's most influential photographers, Tony Ray-Jones and Martin Parr.
They are recognised for their witty, satirical and often quietly moving images of quaintly-British characters, life and locations.
The photography competition aims to emulate their work by allowing amateur photographers to showcase the beauty, variety and eclectic character of the region.
The top two entries in the two categories adult and young person (16 and under) will be chosen from a shortlist by Mr Parr, with the first prize winning entries from each category going on temporary display at the Time and Tide Museum.
Two Sony cameras are also on offer as prizes, courtesy of competition sponsors London Camera Exchange in partnership with Sony. Norfolk Museums Service Teaching Museum trainee and competition organiser, Alanna Baker, said: 'Tony Ray-Jones and Martin Parr are both – in their different ways – drawn to what makes a place unique and the character of the people who live and work in those environments.
'Tony Ray-Jones in particular had an affinity for capturing the unique charm of British seaside towns in the 60s and 70s, including East Anglia – an image of Great Yarmouth and one of Jaywick Sands are included in the show. The Only in the East competition will be a great way of engaging people in the region, both with the work on display in the exhibition, and just as importantly, with their own relationship to this wonderful part of the world.'
Only in England is supplemented by a display of images taken by members of the Wide Angle Young Volunteer photography group and a digital display of photographs by Brian Ollington whose collection of images of Great Yarmouth are part of Time and Tide's permanent collection.
