A free day at the races is being offered to 6,000 residents of Great Yarmouth at the town's racecourse.

Great Yarmouth Racecourse is holding its second residents' free race day on Friday, June 30 and people in selected postcodes are being invited to apply for their tickets.

It is the second year running the racecourse has offered free tickets to residents, and this year it has extended the postcode areas.

People who live in the NR12, NR13, NR14, NR29, NR30, NR31, NR32 and NR33 areas can secure a pair of grandstand and paddock tickets.

The racecourse has 6,000 tickets to give away and the offer is limited to two free tickets per household for the afternoon of flat racing.

The venue is urging people who want to enjoy a free day at the race to get their applications in as the closing date for ticket requests is Friday, June 2.

Gates on Friday, June 30 open at noon.

There will be seven races, with the first at 2.10pm and the last at 5.10pm.

People living in the selected postcodes can apply for the free tickets by visiting Great Yarmouth Racecourse's website at www.greatyarmouth-racecourse.co.ukA spokesman, describing the ticket application process, said: 'If people have registered previously, they can login into their account.

'If people are new to the site they will need to register but, don't worry, this is easy to do. Just follow the instructions when asked to login or register.

Click on the FREE RACEDAY banner on the home page then click on buy tickets and then enter the voucher code FREE3006 at the bottom of the screen and click apply code.

'You'll then see the offer for free tickets.

'In the quantity box choose 1 – this will secure you one pair of tickets. Click proceed securely and you're done.

'Then you can look forward to a great day's racing.

The spokesman added: 'It should be a great afternoon of summer flat racing.'

Great Yarmouth Racecourse says times for the races may vary slightly and people should check its website for any updates on times.
