A Gorleston-based art and photography teacher will see her work on display at Brussels airport after winning an award in New York.

Androulla Michael of East Norfolk Sixth Form College won the Brussels Airlines LIKES ART Award at the Accessible Art Fair in the US.

She was chosen to represent East Norfolk at the event, held at the iconic National Arts Club in Gramercy Park, and featuring 60 artists from across the globe.

The work is an ongoing visual diary Androulla started ten years ago, which challenges the phenomenon of the selfie by subverting it as a means of celebrating social acceptance.

She said: 'I feel honoured to have been selected to represent the college and my work at Accessible Art Fair New York among all the talented and diverse artists. This has truly been an enriching experience which I'm excited to embed in my teaching and share with students and members of staff.'

From January Brussels Airlines will exhibit the winning piece at The Loft - the carriers award-winning, flagship premium lounge in Pier A at Brussels Airport.
