A six-year-old girl has died after being struck by a lorry on the A12 in Lowestoft this morning. Police and ambulance were called at 8.35am to the accident at the junction of Hollingsworth Road and Yarmouth Road.

A six-year-old girl has died after being struck by a lorry on the A12 in Lowestoft this morning.

Police and ambulance were called at 8.35am to the accident at the junction of Hollingsworth Road and Yarmouth Road.

The girl was taken to the James Paget Hospital(JPH), in Gorleston near Great Yarmouth, where she died a short time later as a result of her injuries.

The lorry driver and his son, have also been taken to the JPH, but are not described as having any significant injuries.

The road is currently closed north while accident investigators examine the scene, and is not expected to re-open until later this afternoon or evening.
