All of Broadland's 47 district council seats could be contested in 'all out' elections this May.

There could also be elections to more than 500 town and parish council seats across the district if there are competing candidates. A national referendum about proposed changes to the parliamentary voting system could also take place on the same day.

'This will be a major operation for the returning officer to conduct three different sets of elections together,' said Ann Watkins electoral services manager for Broadland District Council. 'There will be over 250 ballot boxes used and there could be 100,000 votes to be counted if the referendum goes ahead and turn-out is similar to a General Election.'

Nomination packs are now available for parishes from parish clerks, and for district candidates from Broadland's head office in Yarmouth Road, Thorpe St Andrew, where a meeting for agents has been scheduled for March 24, from 4pm to 5pm.

For more information, or to attend the meeting, please contact the election office at election.services@broadland.gov.uk or on 01603 430424. The closing date for nominations is April 4.
