Gas leak in Hethersett after fractured gas main

Contractors dug through a gas pipe in Cann's Lane Hethersett this afternoon.

The incident happened at around 2.25pm when contractors damaged a gas service pipe to a property while doing landscaping work.

Norfolk Fire Service sent appliances from Hethersett and Carrow and they made the area and scene safe until the arrival of the gas board.

The National grid carried out the repairs which were completed and the gas supply was restored to the property shortly after 4.30pm.

Suspected gas escapes should be reported to the National Grid on 0800 111 999.
