Hethersett Social Club opened up its doors at the weekend for a special day to showcase the facilities and also raise funds for the Norfolk Accident Rescue Services (NARS).

Events during the day included a charity bowls tournament, junior knockout pool event, a barbecue, a visit from Norfolk Fire Service and attractions for youngsters from bouncy castles to face painting.

The day was rounded off by a disco from local DJ Chris Watt. Once the proceeds have been counted up the club will be organising a cheque presentation to the charity.

The club has announced its entertainment line-up for the next three months. This includes the following:

August 7, quiz evening; August 12, children's fun afternoon from 2-4pm; August 18, Blues Brothers; August 26, Excite Kareoke with Phil Male.

September 1, family disco night; September 4, quiz evening; September 9, Children's fun afternoon; September 22, casino evening, September 29, Phil Male.

October 2, quiz evening; October 6, race night; October 13, Stylotones; October 14, children's fun afternoon; October 27, fish and chip quiz evening in aid of East Anglian Air Ambulance.
