A busy team who are trying to raise enough funds to build a new community hall in its village are seeking more support for their project.
Members of the Lyng Community Hall fundraising team took over 100 letters to the mobile post office outside the Fox pub addressed to local companies asking for their backing.
Alan Chapman and Jenna Youngs met postmaster Rob Williams from Barnham Broom post office, who operates the mobile unit, to hand over the letters.
Mr Chapman said: 'The project in development since 2007 exists only because a significant nest egg of funds was raised by a dedicated team of local volunteers.
'Since that time many hours of hard work and commitment have brought us very close to achieving our aim of a new community hall in Lyng, and this final effort is aimed to close the gap between secured grant funds and the overall project cost.
'For the project to succeed we really need to close that gap, and we hope that local businesses and others will support us.'
The project involves the replacement of an old, small and dilapidated village hall, which is unsafe and almost unusable, with a new Community Hall where residents of Lyng, Sparham, Easthaugh, Fustyweed and Primrose Green can come together.
The new hall has been in development since 2007 and has involved extensive community consultation.
Planning permission has been granted for the new building on land held in trust for the benefit of the residents of the parishes and hamlets,
They have already received grants of £23,000 and £15,000 and has submitted another application for grant of £821,801.
Wensum Valley Nursery School in Lyng raised £64.50 for the new hall by holding a bake sale and in total nearly £50,000 has been raised from within the community.
The current funding shortfall is just under £50,000.
The fundraising team is running a community and corporate Buy a Brick Scheme and are continuing to research, prepare and submit ongoing funding applications, as well as running frequent community fundraising events.
