Community groups, individuals and organisations have the chance to win a slice of £30,000 towards projects which help celebrate and showcase The Brecks.

The Breaking New Ground Landscape Partnership has launched its £30,000 People's Pot Community Grant fund.

As part of the £2.2m Heritage Lottery-funded scheme, the special fund is available for grants of up to £5,000 in support of independent landscape and heritage projects in the area.

Breaking New Ground is keen to support projects that improve understanding of the natural and cultural heritage of The Brecks, capture and tell stories about the area's changing landscape, restore and manage Breckland habitats and aspects of the area's cultural heritage, actively involve people in caring for The Brecks and improve community engagement with the heritage of the Brecks.

James Parry, chairman of the Break New Ground grants awarding committee, said: 'The People's Pot is a great opportunity for everyone across The Brecks to create and deliver projects that will extend understanding and appreciation of this fantastic area.

'Footpath restoration, local history research or the creation of new community wildlife areas are just some possible ideas, but there are many more. look forward to hearing about them from as many applicants as possible.'

There will be two rounds of applications in each year of the scheme's three-year duration. Applications for the first round this year must be received by September 30.
