Drivers were warned to expect 'severe delays' after two crashes on the A47 involving multiple vehicles.

Norfolk police were called to the Yarmouth-bound carriageway at Postwick just before 7am on Friday morning.

Three vehicles were understood to be involved in the incident, with emergency services called.

The road was initially fully closed, with queues building, but both lanes had been reopened by 8.50am.

It is believed those involved suffered minor injuries.

Highways officers and recovery were called to clear the scene and debris left on the road.

Police warned drivers to prepare for 'severe delays' and find an alternative route if possible.

And at 7.20am, they were called to another crash on the carriageway just past the A140 junction.

Two vehicles were involved, and no-one is believed to have been injured.

The road was clear by 8am.

Delays caused problems for local businesses, with staff unable to make it to work.

This is the case for Thorpewood Medical Group on Woodside Road in Norwich.

They tweeted: 'With staff stuck in the resulting traffic queues in the surrounding areas you may experience some delays to our normal service. Apologies for this unavoidable situation, we will get your needs met as soon as we can.'
