A former poet laureate and Archbishop of Canterbury read a collection of his own poetry at a Wells literary event.

Dr Rowan Williams, who was the 104th Archbishop of Canterbury from 2002 to 2012 and officiated at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011, took to the stage at the Maltings on Staithe Street today for the sell-out penultimate day of the Poetry-next-the-Sea event.

The 17th annual festival brought together a collection of renowned poets including Sir Andrew Motion, the country's Poet Laureate from 1999 to 2009, who focused on his recent work, The Customs House.
