The Environment Agency said forecast stormy weather conditions and high tides expected tonight means flooding is possible.

The agency said: 'The forecast is for strong winds with large waves and sea spray. High water is expected at 7pm. Conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. We are expecting localised impacts to promenades and car parks at Hunstanton seafront. Locations most at risk are along Hunstanton seafront. We are not expecting there to be any flooding at Heacham and Snettisham.

'The Environment Agency are monitoring forecasts and will update this message as necessary. The local authority are closing the flood gates at Hunstanton. Access will be difficult.'

At Thetford, EA staff have been clearing the weed screens of sluices on the Little Ouse ready for the expected heavy rains.
