Bicycle Links CIC today announced that they have been awarded £8,980 from the Big Lottery's 'Awards for All' to be spent on Fix and Ride cycling sessions this summer.
The sessions will combine bike maintenance and guided bike rides, and will take place at schools and community venues around Norwich this year.
The aim of Fix and Ride is to encourage families to try cycling again, and there will be mechanics and ride leaders offering support and backup.
Lucy Hall, Project Manager at Bicycle Links, said: 'We're delighted to have secured this funding from the Big Lottery. It enables us to get out into the community and promote cycling for leisure and a healthy lifestyle. If anyone has a bike in the back of a shed that needs a bit of first aid, we can do that and then take you on a gentle ride around your area.' Details will be announced on bicyclelinks.org.uk.
