The car park at Beccles Common will be temporarily closed next week while repair work is carried out.

The Common is a popular spot for visitors, but recent years have seen the deterioration of the car park surface through heavy use.

Located at the end of Common Lane, the car park will be closed from Monday, August 21, to Friday, August 25 to allow repair work to be carried out.

During this week, Beccles Town Council is asking that all visitors who normally use the car park, instead park their vehicles considerately on the wide area to the right hand side at the far end of Common Lane before the cattle grid.

Beccles mayor Richard Stubbings said: 'I am pleased that the Common car park is getting some much needed attention and after a few days we should all enjoy a pot hole free car park. In the meantime please keep cars off the common so that it is not ruined for all.'
