Local bosses are being urged to register an interest in entering or sponsoring Great Yarmouth's prestigious business awards.

The Spirit of Enterprise Awards are organised by enterpriseGY and are set to return for their eighth year, recognising and raising the profile of top performing firms across the borough.

Last year's glittering ceremony was widely regarded as the most successful yet, with energy services business Proserv crowned as the overall 2014 Business of the Year in front of hundreds of guests.

Keen to maintain the momentum, enterpriseGY is already seeking expressions of interest from local firms interested in stepping in the spotlight by putting themselves forward in one of the categories, or sponsoring one of the awards.

Businesses are again invited to nominate an individual for the Great Personal Contribution to the Great Yarmouth Economy Award, someone who through hard work, passion and commitment has made a great personal contribution and impact on the local economy.

Borough council leader Trevor Wainwright said: 'The Spirit of Enterprise Awards 2014 was hugely successful and we've already had interest from potential sponsors for 2015.

'The scheme has grown in stature year-on-year and is a fantastic showcase of businesses of all sizes, sectors and ages from across the borough, and of the strength of the local economy.'

Ian McCreadie, enterpriseGY chairman, said: 'The awards are free to enter. Finalists benefit significantly from publicity in the local and regional media. The main award sponsor selects the overall Business of the Year.

'I congratulate all of the winners in 2014 and also want to thank the sponsors, including main award sponsor, BDO LLP, without whom this wonderful celebration of business excellence would not be possible.'
