Tinderbox conditions and sweltering temperatures have left Norfolk firefighters continuing to deal with wildfires across Norfolk.
Crews have had another busy day tackling fires in the open and in fields including near Aylsham and a large fire that had spread across five hectares at Gressenhall.
Firefighters from Dereham, Watton and Reepham were called to Gressenhall at 1.56pm with a back-up water carrier from Fakenham after they fought to contain the blaze using both water jets and hand beaters.
Earlier call-outs included a field fire at Shadwell, off the A1066 between Garboldisham and Thettford, which was reported at 11.30am. Firefighters from Thetford with a misting unit and appliances from Brandon and Diss were called in to douse the flames.
Appliances from Dereham and Hingham attended a field fire of standing crop at Holme Hale at shortly after 2pm. The crews used hose reel jets, hand appliances and a thermal imaging camera.
Meanwhile one appliance from Aylsham attended to a fire in the open on Norwich Road, close to Aylsham, at 2.13pm using beaters to put out the fire.
