Firearms incident in Norwich

Police were called to a firearms incident in the Heartsease area of Norwich this evening.

The incident started at about 5.30pm at Churchman Road.

A Norfolk Police spokesman said: 'We were deployed to a firearms incident. There have been no arrests at this time. Inquiries are continuing.'

One woman, who did not want to be named and who lives nearby, said: 'There were police cars everywhere.

'The police had shields. It looked like an armed response unit. I had not got a clue what was happening.

'Part of the road was blocked until about 7.30pm.'
