The final phase of improvement work at the Cherry Tree car park in Dereham will begin on May 2.

The front section of the car park and the Market Place entrance will be resurfaced, have repairs to the surface water drainage system and parking bay lines will be repainted.

During the works, carried out by Breckland Council contractors, the affected section will close temporarily with other sections remaining open. The Market Place entrance will shut for 10–12 working days towards the end of the works but, apart from this, both entrances to the car park will remain open throughout.

It should be completed by June 13, depending on weather conditions.

Councillor Paul Claussen said: 'I appreciate that the work will incur some inconvenience for residents, but the improvements are essential and I am sure that residents will be pleased with the result.'
