The Lemon Tree, on Damgate Street, has built up a fan base clamouring for its cooked breakfasts, home-made cakes and savoury treats.

Now - after previous owners Nik Smith and Jenna Dracup stepped down last month - husband and wife Dave and Aideen Summers, their son Sam Brooks and his girlfriend Lucy Hibble have taken over and hope to build on its strong reputation.

The Tacolneston family has been up and running for a fortnight and say that so far business is going well.

Mrs Summers, 57, said: 'It's been brilliant so far - really, really busy because we opened during the summer holidays. There's been a lot of support from local people so far and it's a nice place to be in the town.'

But the fast pace of life will be nothing new to Mrs Summers and her husband - her previous job was as an aircraft dispatcher at Heathrow Airport, while Mr Summers' was a director at Monarch Airlines.

But four years ago the family moved from Sussex to the county in search of a new challenge, and this year spotted the opportunity in Wymondham.

'We thought it looked great and we've had a lot of help so far,' she said. 'The previous owners worked with us and showed us the ropes.

'We would like to carry on with how well the café was doing - it has a good reputation and we would like to carry on with that with a few changes along the way.'

Mrs Summers added that the family hopes to open some evenings, following the success of tapas evening launched by Mr Smith. The Lemon Tree is open from 10am to 2pm on Mondays, 9am to 3pm frmo Tuesdays to Thursdays and 8am to 3pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
