Held on Sunday April 16, 12pm-6pm, the Market Place and surrounding area will be bustling with energetic racers, cheering crowds, a variety of stalls, music, activities and lots of tasty food and drink.

On the day there will be a 5km running race for all levels as well as a 1km fun run with a prize for the best fancy dress. Whether you're determined to set a new personal best, run for charity, or both, the event is a great opportunity to get involved, raise some money and just have fun.

As well as the running races, there will be four Criterium races where cyclists whizz round a short circuit for several laps, hoping to be the first over the line.

Organised by Active Fakenham, this year's event is expected to be bigger and better than its debut in 2016 with lots of things for people to see and do.

Throughout the day, visitors can browse stalls and there will also be free giveaways for the runners and riders including 1,000 Easter eggs, 500 pieces of fresh fruit, cereal bars and an exciting bag of Easter goodies for children running the 1km fun run.

Music and commentary will be provided and there will be several sports massage students offering free, pre and post race massages to cyclists and runners under the gazebos in the Market Place, on a first come first served basis.

New this year are the women's and girls' Criterium cycle races and taking part is the WXC World Racing Team which Active Fakenham is sponsoring for the Easter races.

Aimed at young female riders, the local team is always on the lookout for up and coming talent and will be about for the duration of the day chatting to anyone who would like to find out more about joining.

Keen to promote healthy eating and sustainable energy, Active Fakenham's Smoothie Bike Bar will also be open for all to enjoy. Stationary bikes that drive fresh fruit blenders, participants can put their pedal to the metal and whisk up a tasty nutritious treat, all at the same time!

'The object of the day will be to have fun and create a spectacle based around healthy and enjoyable activities,' says Richard.

There will be lots of people running for good causes and the 1km fun run with optional fancy dress will award a prize for the best costume in memory of Wayne Challinor who tragically died recently.

'Wayne was very supportive of Active Fakenham and a friend to many in the group,' says Richard. 'He provided medical cover at some of our events and always volunteered to help where he could. He also loved taking part in any fancy dress events and won an award a couple of years ago for best costume in our first run at the Fakenham race course.'

Cowbells will be available to the crowds to help cheer the racers on and for anyone who can't make it to Fakenham, there will be a live feed on the Active Fakenham Facebook page.

Richard is looking for volunteers to help out on the day. Want to get involved? Call 07887 803091 or email:
