Former Norwich City star Darren Huckerby showed he does not always move at lightning pace as he took a Saturday stroll to support a charity.

The ex-Canary winger was among more than 300 people who took part in the Macmillan Cancer Support Bure Valley Railway (BVR) Walk at the weekend.

Mr Huckerby was accompanied by his dog Poppy as he caught the BVR train from Aylsham to Wroxham and walked the nine miles back. Others opted for either the three- or six-mile routes on Saturday or Sunday.

Helen Chapman from Macmillan said numbers were down on last year, and participants had dodged the showers, but added that she hoped the total raised would top 15,000.

She said it was getting 'harder' each year for people to get sponsors, and said that was one of the reasons that numbers were down.
