Ewan Downes is running the 10K to raise funds and awareness of a little-known condition called PoTS.
The Wymondham High Academy student's girlfriend Maria Shepherd, from Hingham, suffers from postural tachycardia syndrome which affects the nervous system and causes a drop in blood supply to the heart and brain when she is upright. It causes her to faint dozens of times a day.
The charity PoTS UK says its incidence is unknown but it is probably under-diagnosed due to lack of awareness in the medical community and its non-specific symptoms. It is often misdiagnosed as anxiety, panic attacks, or chronic fatigue syndrome.
The 17-year-old also organised a non-uniform day for the sixth form at Wymondham High to raise more funds.
