Everything you need to know about the East Coast Truckers Children’s Convoy

On Sunday, 27 August people across the county will have the chance to catch a glimpse over 80 trucks driving together, escorted by police motorcycles.

The convoy is a major event of the summer, taking children with special needs to Pleasurewood Hills and Great Yarmouth for the day, setting off from County Hall in Norwich.

Organisers said: 'Thousand of people line the route from County Hall to the seafront at Great Yarmouth via Pleasurewood Hills. It makes the children's day to see everyone waving them on from any vantage point en route.

'Logistically the best place to be is somewhere near the Marina Centre in Yarmouth but, if you want a good view get yourself onto a bridge on the A47, but be early as lots of people have the same idea.'

Approximate timetable for 2017 convoy:

10:00am - Leave County Hall, Norwich

10:30am - Acle Roundabout

11:00am - Great Yarmouth (Gapton Hall Roundabout)

11:15am - Gorleston

12:00pm - Arrive Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park.

17:00pm - Leave Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park.

18:00pm - Marine Parade (Seafront), Great Yarmouth.

19:30pm - Arrive at County Hall, Norwich

Recommended viewing places on the A47 and A12:

• A47, Layby opposite the White Horse PH.

• Vauxhall Holiday Park, Great Yarmouth. There is a large grass area well back from the road.

• A12 Gapton and Harfreys roundabouts. There are footpaths and barriers for protection.

• Bridge over A12 near Hayfreys roundabout.

• A47 Bridge over at Blofield and Acle - spectators with cars are asked not to impede passing traffic.

• Acle roundabout and garage. There is a wide grass verge with roadside barriers.

• A12 Corton Roundabout. North-bound side, there is a large grass area.

For the return journey in the evening, all of the above are suggested as well as the bridge over the A47 at Postwick.
