KFC confirmed on Friday that its branch on Prince Wales Road in Norwich had closed for 'essential maintenance work'.
The store is one of four KFC's in the Norwich area and it is not clear when it will re-open.
A spokesperson KFC said: 'The store has been closed due to essential maintenance work. We are sorry for the inconvenience and are currently assessing how long this will take. In the meantime, our local fans can visit us at the nearby KFC in Chapelfield Shopping Centre.'
A statement on the front door of the fast food restaurant said: 'We are temporarily closed due to technical faults. This restaurant is expected to open ASAP. This decision is not taken lightly, and is done in the interests of our customers and team members.
'We will review the decision again at the above time, when we hope to be trading as usual. In the meantime we would like to apologise for the inconvenience this causes.'
A spokesperson for Norwich City Council said they have had no involvement in the closure.
