A cow which escaped from a field forced police to close the A14 for more than an hour in Suffolk tonight.
Suffolk Constabulary were called to reports of a cow wandering on the A14 near Risby, between Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket, at around 8pm.
Officers attended the scene and were forced to close the A14 in both directions due to a cow being on the road.
The road closure was put in place near junction 41 (New Road) of the A14, in the Risby area.
Officers managed to get control of the cow and lead it back to a nearby field, a Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said.
The force spokesman was tonight unable to confirm if the cow's owner was made aware of the incident.
The road reopened at 9.30pm, around 90 minutes after the incident was reported.
Slow traffic reportedly stretched back to junction 42 during the incident this evening.
