Classic car enthusiasts descended on the Norfolk Showground where they were mesmerised by row upon row of classic cars which glinted and gleamed as if they were brand new.
Members of some of the region's classic vehicle and motor sport clubs turned out in force for the first East Anglian Classic Motor Show at the Costessey-based showground yesterday.
The event included an auction, conducted by Norwich-based firm Irelands, which featured a 5-litre V8-powered Marcos Mantis GTO, one of just three examples produced, in which Dereham-based racer Daniel Eagling first made his name, competing in the prestigious British GT Championship in 2003.
It was hoped the car would realise a price between £42,000 and £48,000 although the reserve for it was not reached however about 55pc of all lots did go, including a lovingly-restored Bedford Dormobile which fetched £15,000.
Jim Utting, co-ordinator of the show, said: 'We were very pleased with the attendance luckily the weather held off which was good. It was a good day. There was a very good turn out from the car clubs and very good representation from local enthusiasts.'
Mr Utting said he certainly hoped the event would be back next year and aimed to help make it an annual event on the calendar.
