A combine harvester has been saved from a fiery fate thanks to quick-responding emergency services.

Fire crews from Southwold and Harleston attended the incident at Lodge Lane, in Wissett, earlier today, Monday, August 14.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue service were alerted at 10.31am to reports of a combine harvester on fire.

However, upon arrival this was seen not to be the case.

A spokesman said: 'There were various hot spots on the combine harvester but the vehicle was not alight.

'What proceeded was a dampening down of the harvester to ensure no subsequent fires started.'

The spokesman confirmed there was no one in the vehicle at the time of the incident and the scene was secured by 11.38am.

This response comes less than 24 hours after another combine harvester fire in Jay Lane, Lound.

Two fire crews used hose reels jest to extinguish the blaze which occurred at 7pm on Sunday, August 13.
