Parents and the public have been treated to a first look at designs for the campus revamp at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy.
The extensive plans for the Great Yarmouth school include a new science block and multi-use games playing area, as well as the refurbishment of several existing classrooms and improved catering and library facilities.
The proposals for the Salisbury Road site also include an extension to the existing tennis courts to cater for a car parking area.
Visitors were asked for their views at the consultation event which was held at the academy on Monday night.
Those in attendance were suitably impressed with the proposals which will see a new sixth form created.
It is scheduled to open in September 2021.
David Cansick, 76, whose granddaughter is in year 10, said: 'The plans look really good. It is great to see the school trying to expand and improve.
'My granddaughter loves it here at the academy and developments like this can only help to improve the reputation of the school.'
Any recommendations or issues which were raised at the consultation will be taken into account before a formal planning application is submitted next month.
A spokesman for LSI Architects who are behind the design proposals said the consultation had been 'very positive'.
'We have had some really good feedback so far and people seem to like the proposals. The main concerns people had was with us potentially building on new land but that is not the case.
'It is good to be able to listen to any suggestions people might have which can be taken on board,' he said.
If planning permission is granted, work is expected to start on the site in July 2019 with a provisional completion date of September 2020.
Jason Tourle, 32, of North Denes Road who is a former pupil, said: 'The proposals are really interesting and look very good. It already looks a lot different to it did when I was here 16 years ago.
'Developments like this can only help to attract more people to the school which is very encouraging for those living in the local area.'
The Inspiration Trust and the Department for Education are the ones putting forward the changes.
