Run by the British Council in more than 30 countries, it enables them to swap best practice and ideas.

During their initial week long visit, Mr Arthur said they received 'such a warm welcome' from the school.

'Being able to work alongside colleagues from a different country has opened our eyes to a new world of both challenges and possibilities,' he said.

He said working with the 'incredible' children in Nairobi was a 'real privilege' for the pair.

In the future, he said, they hoped to offer a reciprocal visit from youngsters at the school.

'The Connecting Classrooms project will mean that our students have the opportunity to collaborate with counterparts in Kenya on an exciting project to explore the Sustainable Development Goal of Creativity and Imagination,' he said.

'The aim of the project is to help learners achieve more in mathematics through a more creative and imaginative approach to learning. We hope to empower young people as they become more independent learners.'
