Constructing dens and hideaways is a natural part of childhood, giving young explorers the chance to make a space their own.
It is this creative spirit which has spurred on pupils at Parker's CEVC Primary School, in Saham Toney, to construct their own igloo – out of milk bottles.
Standing at five feet high, the hideaway was built using 384 four-pint containers, collected by pupils and parents and took several weeks to put together.
It provides a cosy spot for a small adventurer and the multi-coloured bottle tops make for a spectacular ceiling when the plastic walls are hit by the right light.
Climbing inside has proved to be an irresistible temptation for pupils of all ages.
Currently sited in the school's assembly hall, the igloo will eventually be moved to an outdoor play area.
Sandra King, headteacher, said all year groups in the school – from Reception to Year 6 – had contributed to the project, making use of maths and science skills.
'Everyone has been bringing in their own milk bottles and it looks amazing,' she said.
Inspiration came from the school's youngest pupils while they were studying the polar regions.
Jane Jones, Reception class teacher, said: 'It has been great as a whole school project in terms of problem- solving, team-building and creative design.'
