Budding Jonny Wilkinsons and Lewis Moodys received rugby training from a Leicester Tigers coach at a Norfolk primary school yesterday.

Justin Loveridge, a rugby development officer for the Aviva Premiership club was at Hindringham Primary School, near Wells, passing on top tips to boys and girls, aged four to 11.

It was the second of five weekly sessions he will be giving at the school and Mr Loveridge has been coaching at primary schools around Norfolk over the past few months. He is currently working at Wells Primary School, Stibbard All Saints Primary School, Fakenham Junior School, Blenheim Park Primary School, Mileham Primary School, Weasenham Primary School, Rudham Primary School and Foulsham Primary School.

The pupils will have the chance to take part in a tag rugby festival at Fakenham Rugby Club on December 6. It is all part of the Aviva Premiership Rugby Schools Programme, which is running nationally for the second year, and has seen Aviva put 2m into supporting grass roots rugby.

Mr Loveridge said: 'While I've been doing this I have seen a noticeable improvement in childrens' behaviour and confidence. Some who didn't seem interested in the first session have ended up really enjoying it and gone on to sign up for their local rugby clubs, which is fantastic.'

Sue Sweet, acting head teacher at Hindringham, said: 'Like any team sport rugby is a great way of promoting discipline and team work. It's been wonderful to have Justin here and the children have really been enjoying it.'
