The nearly 270 pupils at a King's Lynn primary school are all rushing to their new library, after it was made more colourful.
It was officially opened at Eastgate Academy in Littleport Terrace yesterday.
About £6,000 has been spent on new furniture and decorating the old library, and Donna Hubbard, teaching assistant and librarian, said she had spent the last two weekends with another assistant painting it.
She said: 'The children have not yet had the chance to visit the library.
'The furniture only arrived in September and was flat-packed, so we had to make it.
'But I'm sure they will all be coming now that it's open.'
She took over as school librarian about four years ago, and was not impressed with the old library.
She said: 'I always felt it looked dark and uninviting. I wanted to make it bright and colourful, a place the children would love coming to and feel proud of.
'We have had book characters from The BFG and Alice in Wonderland, among others, painted on the walls and colourful bookcases put in.
'I feel proud of how the library looks now and feel I have achieved what I set out to do.'
