With just two days left to grab your tickets for the Aquila Club's charity ball this weekend, its young organisers have been told they are now guaranteed to raise a significant sum for their chosen good causes.

The six pupils from Hellesdon's Kinsale Junior School, who have spent a year planning the Dunston Hall event, have sold 180 tickets through Auction House.

Thanks to sponsorship from local businesses, it already surpasses the number of people the Aquila Club needed to attend to ensure they covered the cost of the ball and started raising money for Nelson's Journey and Children in Need.

Carolyn Baxter, Kinsale Junior headteacher who runs the club, said: 'It's financially viable. We're going to make money on it. And that's not including any money raised from the auction or raffle.

'We're thrilled to bits. That's the whole reason we're doing this, to raise money for the charities, and to give the people on the night a really good night to remember.'

The ball and auction will take place this Saturday and anyone wanting to attend has until Thursday to get their tickets.

Pupils are now in the final stages of their preparation for the ball and former Aquila Club members Ailsa Nice and Callum Park, who now attend Hellesdon High School, are ready to auction off six of the prize lots on the night.

Tickets for the charity ball and auction are 55 each or 500 for a table of 10. They are available from Auction House by calling 01603 505100.
