Downham Market Rotary held its annual Technology Tournament for 10 teams of students from Iceni Academy, St Clement's High School and Witchford Village College.
The aim of the day was to challenge students' creative skills in a 'fun way' to better their understanding of design, technology and simple engineering.
This year's task was to design, construct and test a vehicle able to crawl along inside a pipeline and to clear it of debris inside.
The teams were supplied with card, dowels, pulleys and a small electric motor and allowed three hours to complete the task.
As part of the task teams also had to produce a record of the various stages of their design work and these reports formed part of their final score.
Everyone worked hard and at the end of the allotted time every group had produced a working model that performed according to the prescribed standard.
The tournament was sponsored by Kaimai Research and supported by RAF Marham.
Before presenting prizes the judges congratulated all the students for their hard work and the high quality of the models.
Presenting the prizes Bob Linford, Downham Rotary's president said: 'Downham Rotary runs this Tournament every year to encourage local young people to consider careers in engineering and technology and we hope to offer it for many years to come.'
Certificates and medals were awarded to the best teams with the overall prize going to a team from to Witchford Village College. Downham Rotary would like to thank all those who helped with the day, in particular the judges John Beer, Wing Cdr Andy Fell, Joe Whitmore and Dr Rob James.
