Hethersett Academy has apologised to Year 10 parents following an error in a half-termly update about their child's performance.

It gives them a grade from one to four, with four the best, to reflect their effort at school, but the most recent reports said the scale went up to six, giving the impression children had not performed so well. The one-to-six scale had been used last year.

Principal Gareth Stevens said: 'Unfortunately the old scale was sent out with this half term's information. The information was sent out on a Friday. We emailed parents to alert them to the error that Sunday and wrote to them on Monday, as well as reiterating the correct details at a Year 11 parents evening the same day.

'It was an unfortunate error and we apologise if it caused any confusion for pupils or parents, which we cleared up as quickly as possible.'
